Deliver the paper and print a sleepy street awake

Late Edition

Paperboy on a Sunday comics page: land a paper on a porch and that house prints into color, wakes up and joins the street for the rest of the week.

Overview

Late Edition is Paperboy on a Sunday comics page. The street starts gray and asleep. Every paper you land on a porch prints that house into full color, and its family comes out for the rest of the week. Thursday’s street is the one you printed on Monday.

Highlights

  • The print moment. Color wipes out from the porch in a burst of paper confetti. Three deliveries in a row double your points, and six triple them.
  • Neighbors you made. Woken houses fill the route: dogs that chase you, a dad mowing across the sidewalk, a kid who tosses you spare papers.
  • The grump. Break a non-subscriber’s window and he storms out in his bathrobe and chases you all morning.
  • A paper every morning. Each day opens on a front page headlining yesterday’s ride. The route grows all week, Thursday’s storm blows papers toward the road, and Sunday’s papers are heavier.

How It’s Built

Every frame is split into four inks, screened into halftone dots, nudged out of register and outlined in black, like a real comics page. It runs on Spark Engine, every prop is modeled in code, and the sound was designed with ElevenLabs.

Process

Designed and built solo, using agentic engineering for the print look and the engine. Plays in a desktop browser with a keyboard.
