AFTERLIFE//EXE is a fast action roguelite in one rain-soaked ward of a megacity. You play ECHO//07, the backup of someone who died in debt. I built one run as a tight loop: three waves, a new daemon after each, then the Bailiff, a debt collector that has never lost an asset.
Two ways to fight. I gave ECHO a monoblade for close work and an arc caster for rapid fire. A dash slips through attacks, and Blackout staggers everything nearby.
Build it as you go. After every wave I offer three illegal daemons: blades that echo, hits that chain, shields that refill on a dash, kills that heal.
The Bailiff. The boss fights in three phases: spreads, then rings of bullets, then faster attacks with drones on call. Hit it hard enough and it staggers.
Death is a billing event. You lose the build, but each rebuild keeps a little more health and shield, even after you close the tab.
How It’s Built
I wanted a wet night in a big city, so it never stops raining: fog, steam, rippling puddles, flickering neon. The characters and the street were modeled for the game, and every sound is made in code.
Process
I designed and built it solo, using agentic engineering for the combat and the 3D models. It plays in a desktop browser with a keyboard and mouse.
